Dr. Jillian Finker is a Naturopathic Doctor from Long Island, New York. Her career path has been a lifelong journey, with a few landmark steps that led her to where she is today.

Growing up on Long Island, Dr. Finker developed allergy-induced asthma at the age of eight.  She was prescribed Theophillin – a medication that produces side effects similar to those of Speed, such as anxiety and insomnia.  Instead of placing her on potentially dangerous drugs, her parents chose a different path and took her to a holistic chiropractor. The chiropractor successfully healed her allergies by changing her diet and introducing her to better nutrition.

In her late teens, Dr. Finker was prescribed birth control pills to regulate her hormones.  Shortly thereafter, she started experiencing abdominal pain, but she was told everything was normal – despite expressing her concerns about the possible connection between her pain and the birth control pills on multiple occasions.  Once again, she and her parents chose to consult a chiropractor, who told her to get off the pill.  Her stomachaches immediately subsided. It was this chiropractor who suggested that she become a Naturopathic Doctor.

Dr. Finker considered the suggestion and, after much research, moved to Arizona to study at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.  While in Arizona, she realized that her home state of New York wasn’t nearly as educated about Naturopathic Medicine as it should be.  After graduating, she returned home with the hope of educating New York State about Naturopathy.

Dr. Finker is grateful to her parents, who believed in natural medicine and showed her the natural path to healing as well.

She sees patients of any age or gender in her practice – however, her specialty is regulating hormones naturally.  She also focuses on the thyroid and adrenal glands.  Dr. Finker believes the key to great health is to find the underlying cause and develop a course of action with proper nutrition, botanicals, vitamins, homeopathy and overall better lifestyle habits.  If a patient is not eating properly, conventional care can only help so much. She alleviates the fear of visits to doctors that many people display, by showing them the connection between what’s happening in their bodies and how they actually feel.

Often, Dr. Finker sees patients who come to her feeling hopeless – but she states, “There is always hope.  We can always heal.  There is always another way.  There is always something more we can do to support the body, naturally.”

Naturopathic Medicine has a rich and successful history for Dr. Finker, her patients, and countless others.  To preserve the future of health care, the support of Naturopathic Medicine must continue! Please consider making a donation to www.NYANP.org to support licensure of Naturopathic Doctors in New York State today.  Thank You!
