What is a Naturopathic Doctor?

A Naturopathic Doctor (ND) is a medical professional and healthcare practitioner educated and trained at accredited institutions dedicated to the principles of naturopathic medicine.

NDs attend residential graduate-level schools recognized through the US Department of Education. Learn more about the 7 accredited naturopathic medical schools in the US and Canada here: Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges (AANMC)

Naturopathic medical education focuses on utilizing the body's inherent ability to heal itself by addressing the underlying causes of illness rather than merely treating symptoms.

NDs employ a wide range of natural therapies, such as herbal medicine, nutritional counseling, lifestyle modifications, and various other modalities to promote overall well-being.

NDs may use natural medicines, prescription or legend drugs, foods, herbs, or other natural remedies. They may also refer people to a medical doctor or specialist when needed.

Patients' treatment plans are tailored to each individual, taking into account their unique circumstances and health needs.

With a strong emphasis on prevention and education, NDs empower patients to take an active role in their health journey, guiding them through a sequential and minimally invasive approach to restore and maintain optimal wellness.

NDs use naturopathy to support the body's own healing abilities and empower people to make lifestyle changes necessary for the best possible health.

  • Allergies
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Chronic Pain
  • Digestive Problems
