Description
The ‘Year of COVID’ has compelled the world to learn about the immune system and how it deals with infectious disease. However, while SARS-CoV2 cases are diminishing, we’ve only just begun to deal with the long-term immune consequences of a pandemic. The immune response to infectious disease can trigger immune-based sequelae including autoimmune disease. In this seminar, we will discuss mechanisms of autoimmune disease, which diseases we should prepare for in a post-COVID world, and how the microbiome can influence disease susceptibility, neuroimmune health, and be manipulated for therapeutic effect.
