Q & A
Most presenters are available briefly for Q & A using the chat feature, after their presentation.
*Dr. Gedroic's answers to audience questions:
- Why do we say that the relative abundance of one versus the other bacteria must be balanced by other bacteria? It appears the keystone strains of bacteria tend to grow a bit extensively when the biome needs to be repaired so they have a higher abundance then. The host gets healthier and tends to be lots of bacteria instead of being a monoculture. Is this a disease appreciation reason or a morality question? Dr. Gedroic is not sure what this means.
- Regarding keystone strains and obesity - it is high or low numbers of those strains that are associated? Dr. Gedroic is not aware of an association with keystone strains and obesity. The keystones are needed for all of us to have a healthy microbiome. They do not need to be in high quantity, just present. There are bacteria that are more common with obesity like Biophilia Wadsworthia, Alstipes, and other in the Firmicutes phylum.
- Stress can affect the microbiome? Mostly through the mycobiome How? Stress causes the embedded fungi to flare and become filamentous in nature which then causes anxiety, bloating, and poor digestion.
- Does anyone know what stool testing she is using here? This is a test the Dr. Gedroic has developed over a year with a third-party company that hopefully will be released later this year.
- doesnt s. cerevisae contribute to chrohns and ibs? S. cerevisae is one of the main enterotypes of the microbiome and arguably the most ideal. It doesn’t contribute to IBD but perhaps because the inflammation of IBD causes antibodies to all the local flora it may be linked in that way to IBD patients that have antibodies.
- What was the tx in that first pt? JJ had a few months of oral and IV treatment. He had Byron White herbs, along with ozone, UVBI, vitamin C, PC, Glutathione, and lots of other stuff.
- How did she know it was both vivid and flu in the 2nd pt? The second patient was fine until she got Covid in February (tested positive) and then the flue in March (tested positive). Her symptoms started right after and by the end of April her legs, torso, and even her face was affected.
- Can you share the protocol for the 2 yo ? We mostly used Beyond Balance herbs, IMN-B and IMN-GI, and then moved to Mycoregen. He took PC orally as well and probiotics.
- I have some questions for her. 1. Does she only see elevated in B6 with mold or has she also seen B1 and B2. 2. What are her thoughts on oral FMT - I have had great results with patients using ThaenaBiotic. 3. Can she expand on her clinical pearls with her treatments that she can share. This is a great question. Dr. Gedroic doesn’t test for B1 and B2 but probably should, thank you. We are just starting to use ThaenaBiotic so we don’t have feedback yet but looking forward to seeing the results. One patient came to me on it and swears by it. I have seen patients from Europe for FMT and everyone has had a good experience.
- Would love to get more information about therapies used to help reestablish microbiome. Use the keystone strains and Sac. Boulardi.
- I would appreciate more info on the lab tests used as well as her general treatment strategies for re-establishing the micro/mycobiomes. The stool test the Dr. Gedroic has developed over a year with a third-party company. A treatment strategy would include an oral and IV protocol along with ozone, UVBI, PC, Glutathione, prebiotics, and lots of other stuff.
