Dr. Barbara Bartlik, MD rated one of New York Magazine's Best Doctors in Psychiatry, is a recognized expert clinician, teacher and author in integrative medicine, psychiatry and sexual health. Dr. Janet Mindes, PhD will be co-presenting with Dr. Barbara Bartlik. She is an independent researcher, educator, writer, editor; currently co-investigator, NIH-funded study of acupressure. Dr. Mindes is a research psychologist (B.A., Harvard University, Ph.D., New York University) with thirty years' experience, focusing since 1998 on integrative medicine (IM), for the brain, neuropsychiatric conditions, healthy cognitive aging, and has published in these areas. Dr. Mindes taught at NYC universities; conducted research (1990 - 1995, Mt. Sinai Icahn School of Medicine; 1998 – 2015, Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons); taught Western science of acupuncture (former Tri-State College of Acupuncture, 2015-2018). At the former Rosenthal Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Columbia (1998-2007), she mentored medical and doctoral students, co-created three prestigious CME courses, two with Dr. Andrew Weil, was on major NIH grants. Dr. Mindes co-edited/authored Integrative Sexual Health, Weil Integrative Medicine Library, OUP, 2018; she and colleagues have presented content from this book at numerous venues.
Dr. Peter Bongiorno, ND, LAc’s passion is to bring effective naturopathic healing to the practice of mental health. He has thriving practices in New York City and Long Island established in 2004. Prior to earning his naturopathic doctorate from Bastyr University, he researched as a pre-doctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Mental Health and Yale University's Department of Pharmacology. From 2006-2018, Dr. Weinhold served as the legislative chair for the Pennsylvania Association of Naturopathic Medicine, working with legislators to promote legislation to license Naturopathic Doctors in Pennsylvania. A giant step towards this effort was achieved with the passage of House Bill 516 in 2016. HB 516 provides title protection and registration for Naturopathic Doctors graduating from accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges.
