Dr. Chun-Ming Lin, ND, R.Ph.
Why did you choose naturopathic medicine?
I chose naturopathic medicine based on a combination of personal experiences and professional background. As a former registered pharmacist, I saw patients suffer from conventional medication side effects, prompting me to seek safer alternatives. A pivotal moment occurred when my son's recurrent otitis media was resolved through dietary changes suggested by a naturopathic doctor, solidifying my belief in holistic care. My mother's successful battle against stage 4 colon cancer using natural therapies further demonstrated the body's healing potential. A patient's severe high blood pressure was effectively reduced using Electro-nervous system balance therapy (ENSBT), highlighting the efficacy of natural approaches. This journey underscores my commitment to providing comprehensive, personalized, and natural care to promote well-being without relying solely on conventional interventions.
How are you currently using your ND degree? What is your position?

As a naturopathic doctor, my position allows me to empower individuals to take control of their well-being by emphasizing preventive and holistic approaches to healthcare. Through personalized treatment plans, I work closely with patients to address their unique health concerns, utilizing natural remedies, lifestyle modifications, and nutritional guidance. My role as an ND enables me to foster a deeper understanding of the body's innate healing abilities and promote sustainable, long-term well-being for those in need.
What is your clinical and practice background?

My practice emphasizes pain management through rapid, effective treatments yielding significant relief within minutes. Specializing in cases where conventional medicine falls short, I provide comprehensive care. Additionally, I've served as a Care Partner at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, underscoring my dedication to oncology.
Why did you become a member of the NYANP? How is it valuable to you and/or your profession?
Joining the NYANP (New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians) was a strategic decision, offering substantial advantages to both my professional growth and the advancement of naturopathic medicine. The association provides a robust platform for networking and knowledge sharing among peers, ensuring I stay updated with evolving practices through continuous education. NYANP's advocacy initiatives bolster the field's recognition and integration within mainstream healthcare, expanding our scope and enhancing patient accessibility. In essence, NYANP propels my career while promoting naturopathic medicine's acceptance and influence across New York.
Who has been the most influential person to you on your naturopathic journey? Why?
In my naturopathic journey, my most influential figures have been my professors at Bastyr University, particularly Eric Jones ND and Jim Chan ND. Not only have they excelled as educators, but they have also become invaluable mentors and friends. Their unwavering passion and empathy for naturopathic medicine have profoundly shaped my patient-centered approach. Their expertise in holistic healing and dedication to natural patient care have ignited my pursuit of excellence. Their guidance has fueled my passion for naturopathy and my commitment to improving the well-being of my patients.
Of the six principles of naturopathic medicine, which one resonates most with you?
Among the six principles of naturopathic medicine, "Treat the Whole Person" resonates most deeply with me. As a naturopathic doctor, I prioritize addressing the underlying causes of health issues, considering the intricate connections among organs and systems. This guides me to provide holistic care that enhances the body's natural healing abilities. I value each person's uniqueness, aiming to support not just physical health but also mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Embracing this principle ensures my approach is comprehensive, aligning with naturopathic philosophy to prioritize the whole person over isolated concerns.
